Yasmin Nunez       In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, it is the desire for revenge that lies behind the motives of young Hamlet. His moral struggle towards revenge becomes an obsession leading to a change in character. His actions strongly imply that madness has overcome him. However, there are hints present in the text that implies his madness was feigned in order to achieve his revenge. Immediately following the appearance of old King Hamlet’s ghost, Hamlet warns Horatio that he may act mad, which foreshadows a change in Hamlet’s character.
The Life and Theories of Charles Darwin           Charles Robert Darwin was the fifth child of Robert Waring Darwin and Susannah Wedgewood. He was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England where his father practiced medicine. Even as a boy Darwin loved science and his enthusiasm for chemical studies earned him the name "Gas" from his friends. The headmaster at Shrewsbury, Dr.
To what extent do you consider that you have already started to develop the approaches of a critical practitioner. Analyse and evaluate your progress using examples from your work to illustrate your arguments. Introduction For the purpose of this assignment I will consider how I have already started to develop as a ‘Critical Practitioner’. By this statement I would put forward how I am being ‘open minded’, use a ‘reflective approach’ that takes account of ‘different perspectives, experiences and assumptions’ (Glaister cited in the reader pg 8).

I thought we had the perfect life; a mother, father, two children, and another bundle of joy on the way. We also have a family dog named Missy. Our children have more than they need, way more than I remember having when I was growing up. You would think this would be enough. Evidently in their eyes it is never enough. On January 31, 2003, my six year old Heather came home from school asking for a hamster. After all the endless promises of feeding, watering, and cleaning up after it, my husband and I thought it might teach her some responsibility.
In the short story “Babylon Revisited”, written by   Fitzgerald there are many different settings in the story. One of the main settings in the story is the bar at the beginning. The bar it self represents the jazz era, where everyone wore fancy clothes, partied all the time and tipped well. The bar is also a cold reminder how the Americans used to live in the 20’s, since they have almost no money in the 30’s. It also represents the old Charlie Wales and it serves as a reminder to the new Charlie Wales about his past.
Danforth’s Witch Hunt, Is it Justified. (An Essay on the Crucible) I write in response to your column regarding Judge Danforth’s actions during the witch trials in Salem. Surprisingly, you praised Judge Danforth for his “impartiality and tact” during this tragic set of trials. You could not be farther from the truth. Judge Danforth abused his judicial power, throughout the trials, to the fullest of his abilities. His abuses range from berating and coercing witness into saying what he wants them go, to blatantly ignoring testimony that refuted the accusers.

The art of promoting a functional world and society is not as simple as solving a problem, rather it requires one to study, understand, develop,  evaluate, apply, and assess the most suitable methods for promoting the overall wellbeing of the individuals, groups, communities, and organizations in the macro environment. Human beings are the product of our environment, nature, and nurture, thus the generalist practitioner must strive to understand the interrelationship among such agents of influence in order to provide effective service to the individuals, families, groups, communities, and systems he or she serves.

Homer and Immortality         Immortality is one the subject of much mythology and folklore. From the stories of the gods themselves, to Achilles and the Styx, to vampires and present day Christian beliefs in an afterlife, the concept of immortality has been with humanity since the beginning of humanity. The wise and ever edifying Homer leaves myths of the elusive everlasting life out of his works; did Homer's Achilles not wear armor. The Odyssey is a story of mortality. Limitation and suffering are what define humanity, yet they are also what give life merit.
Obsessed with beauty, the American culture seemingly values attractiveness over intelligence. Different media outlets serve to reinforce certain societal feminine ideologies (i.e. thin, tall, young, beautiful, etc.). The overwhelming pressure to conform to cultural standards of beauty and the importance of attaining these ideals of thinness and perfection are commonly displayed in advertising. However, in 2004 Dove launched a campaign that promised to redefine such stereotypes.    Researchers agree that a medium that depicts cultural norms and beliefs of “ideal beauty” have a direct negative impact on the perceptions of young women’s selfimage.

Business Case: Panera Bread Company  The main challenge is to determine how Panera Bread can continue to achieve high growth rates in the future. Panera Bread is operating in an extremely high competitive restaurant market which forces the company to improve and to grow steadily for staying profitable. The company’s mission statement of putting “a loaf of bread in every arm” is just underlying Panera’s commitment for growing. They are now in a good financial situation and facing growth rates of up to 20% per year in a niche market that has a great growth potential.
The Decline in Union Membership has Helped to Improve Industrial Harmony     Assess whether the decline in Union membership has helped to improve    industrial harmony. From 1979, the British labour market has experienced an era of    deunionisation that is still occurring at present. Expectations and Personal Anxiety As I reflected on my experience with the team project, I found that at the conclusion of the project my attitude and opinion of group projects was more positive. Initially, the idea of a working on a group project in graduate school created anxiety, doubt, and skepticism. My uneasiness stemmed from my experience during my undergraduate studies as an adult learner; three out of five group projects resulted in poor quality research, content, and conflict between the high output team members and the low engaged team members.

Cloning is Immoral     Is Cloning Morally Right. We always hear of scientists and mathematicians who discover new things that average people like ourselves are baffled by, but to a certain extent we have to be able to determine what is morally right or wrong for that matter. There are many questions in this field that require our attention. Such as: Are human embryos classified as people. Is it right to clone animals. We cannot be ignorant of what happens in the world around us but we don’t have to always participate in it.

Magical Realism   The idea of a genre of art that is called magical realism is less a trend than a tradition, an evolving genre that has its waxings and wanings, where each evolving form expresses an idea that may overlap another, yet at the same time branches off and creates something very different. What began in the visual arts has become a contemporary literary genre due to divergences. Contemporary Latin American writers of this mode include Alejo Carpentier, Jorge Luis Borges, Isabel Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Octavio Paz, Pablo Neruda, and Majorie Agosin.
McDonald's: Evolution of the Food Industry   History     McDonald's has had a global impact on the food industry. McDonald's developed a revolutionary idea known today as fastfood. This impact began in 1930 when Maurice and Richard McDonald left New Hampshire seeking to make a fortune in Hollywood, started up a drivein restaurant in San Bernardino. Unlike so many other foodservice operations at the time, McDonald's came up with new ideas that turned the usual slow paced dinner into a finely tuned engine.
Racial Profiling in Today's Society      Racial profiling is the tactic of stopping someone because of the color of his or her skin and a fleeting suspicion that the person is engaging in criminal behavior (Meeks, p. 45). This practice can be conducted with routine traffic stops, or can be completely random based on the car that is driven, the number of people in the car and the race of the driver and passengers. The practice of racial profiling may seem more prevalent in today’s society, but in reality has been a part of American culture since the days of slavery.

Lena Younger’s Plant of “Dreams”  In the story A Raisin in the Sun Lena Younger cares for a small house plant. This plant represents dreams. Mama has dreams for her family to rise from poverty and live in a better and bigger place, and also for them to continue to grow together as a family. Mama wants to keep her dreams alive and keep her family close to her heart. Mama’s plant that she cares for represents this dream by “looking at her plant and spraying water on it” (52) in a small way showing she will try to keep her plant and their dreams alive.
Narrative Assignment              Walking into a lecture hall in Gregory Hall, I really didn’t know what to expect. I dressed as I would any other day; an Abercrombie shirt, a pair of frayed shorts and some casual sandals. I sat towards the front of the room and arrived slightly early to ensure a good seat. The name of this Brown v. Board education discussion was entitled, "Rethinking Slavery: 18001861,” and was arranged by the Mellon initiative. As I waited to observe the audience as they filled the seats with pencil in hand, I was amazed by the amount of diversity I saw before me.
The Crucible  and The Witch Hunt       Rush's Witch Hunt song states "The mob moves like demons possessed/ Quiet in  conscience, calm in their right/ Confident their ways are best." However, in  Arthur Miller's work The Crucible, Mary Warren states "The Devil is loose in  Salem, Mr. Proctor, we must discover where he's hiding" (Miller 59). Rush's  remark shows the irony in Mary Warren's statement through the description that  the accusers "move like demons." Although, Mary's statement is ironic, it allows  Miller to accomplish his goal of relating communism to the Salem Witch Trials  and still has a universal meaning that applies to today's situations.

Getting Hep to the Beat    In the mid 1940’s a movement began, a generation of writers and poets would emerge; they were called the ‘Beat Generation’. The term was first used by Jack Kerouac while talking to fellow writer John C. Holmes, in 1948, Kerouac said to him, “So I guess you might say we’re the beat generation” (What’s Beat). The ‘Beat Generation’ was a movement that influenced the next generation of young rebellious minds of the 1950’s and ‘60’s through poets and writers who did not follow the rules of society.
Data Transmission  The purpose of this report is to describe some common data transmission terminology. This paper will discuss various data transmission (communication) protocols and how they are used in data communication. Synchronous and Asynchronous:    Asynchronous serial transmission is a technique used in serial RS232 communication. The data is framed by a series of control bits known as the start bit, stop bit(s), parity bits and error checking bits. A transmit clock signal is used to clock the data over the transmission line to the receiving end.

A Day in the Life of a Migraine Sufferer   Each year over twentysix million people nation wide are affected by migraines. Once thought to be a concentration of evil spirits in the brain, common cures consisted of everything from drilling holes in the skull, to inserting garlic cloves into the temples(4). Today however, scientists realize that this all too common occurrence is actually a neurological disorder, which can result in the disability of its victim for hours or even days. I myself have been a constant sufferer of migraines since the age of ten.
The growing demand for enhanced food productivity to meet the needs of the global population has led to use sophisticated agriculture technology in which pesticides play a crucial role. Pesticides are extensively used to increase agricultural products by preventing, controlling, or lessening the damage caused by a pest (John et al., 2001). Pesticides have been widely used througout the world since the middle of the last century. They are mainly used in agriculture and animal production, both including substances with high toxic effects and persistance in the environment (Beyer and Biziuk, 2008).
Average Spring Constant and Uncertainty of the Batch       Outline plan    ============     I have been given 3 springs to which I will add different weight. Using the value of extension (Δx) I will calculate the spring    constant. Hooke's Law says that the stretch of a spring from its rest    position is linearly proportional to the applied force (stress is    proportional to strain). Symbolically,     F = kΔx     Where F stands for the applied force, x is the amount of stretch    (found by new length minus original length), and k is a constant that    depends on the "stiffness" of the spring, called the spring constant.

192429 as a Golden Age for the Weimar Republic     The 1920's were a time of uproar and fear for many Germans. As well as    having to come to terms with the loss of the war and also the losses    imposed by the Treaty of Versailles, Germans had to cope with    political and economic problems such as the rebellions of the 1919and    1920 and then inflation of 1923. The inflation of 1923 had destroyed    people's savings, so there was little money in Germanyitself for    investment. In 1924, through the Dawes plan, Germany was lent    800million marks by the USA to invest in industry and trade.
The Witches in MacBeth          Shakespeare utilized many sources of information when writing his plays.   One of his sources for the witches in MacBeth was almost certainly Reginald  Scot's The Discoverie of Witchcraft, published in 1584.  In his book, Scot  refuted many of the common notions regarding witches and their powers;  nevertheless, the book created a basic outline for the typical witch, including  physical descriptions and abilities.  The witches in MacBeth are  representations of those described in Scot's book.  In the play,  Shakespeare describes authentic witches in their physical appearance and  behavior and MacBeth's character is made more villainous through his association  with these terrifying figures.
The Importance of Proper a Rest.    Sleeping disorders are often overlooked especially in today's society. Proper sleep or rest is necessary in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The effects of abnormal sleeping patterns can be detrimental not only to the subject but others around them. Sleep deprivation is often misdiagnosed as Attention Deficit Disorder or Depression due to similar symptoms. In extreme cases of sleep deficiency, subjects have been known to experience psychosis or manic symptoms most commonly associated with Manic Depressive Disorder and Schizophrenia.

Rape is a form of victimization that is highly underreported. The crime of rape has been denied throughout the ages. Women were believed to secretly desire the prospect of being raped. In addition, there was even the belief that rape was not possible (Pilkington, 2011, Lecture Unit 4). In some ways, this denial of rape has continued within our society. Denial about victimization has only added to the negative feelings rape victims have and why they choose to let their victimization go unreported.
The industrial revolution rapidly altered the rate of human achievement. Steam trains were first used in the 1820’s and remained the primary mode of modern transport for the next one hundred years. The Wright Brothers arrived at human flight in 1903, and space flight was accomplished only 60 years later. The exponential curve grew even steeper with the technological revolution of the 20th Century; new technologies rendered obsolete as soon as they are taken off the assembly line (a stubborn remnant of the industrial era).
White racism was not a concept unique to South Africa from the time of colonialism and after. It was common for Europeans throughout the world to feel their race was superior to the black or native race which justified conquest and black enslavement. However South Africa was a unique case in that while the rest of the world started to move towards equality and independence, South Africa moved in the opposite direction, developing “into a systematic and legalized discrimination shaping the economic, social and political structure of the whole country.”   Racist attitudes certainly changed and were influenced throughout the centuries, but I believe that many of these attitudes were the result of situations that developed within South Africa, affecting relations between the white colonizers and the black colonized.

Women's Fight for Social Equality  If I were to teach a class that dealt with the twentieth century in America, I would choose to make my focus the women's struggle for social equality. Comprising fiftypercent of the population, women are by far the largest "minority" in the United States. Through them I could relate the most important social, political and economic trends of the century. Their achievements, as well as their missteps, tell us a story of America that we most often hear of in snatches, or read about in digressions.
The Existence of External Forces        To determine whether a particular action was decided upon by an individual or whether the action was predetermined one must study its cause. In studying cause one finds that there are two types of causes those that are typified by natural laws, such as a dropped book falling to the ground, and those typified by the moral considerations of men. This distinction is important because it shows both that no man can control his environment contrary to the laws of natural or scientific laws, but neither are his actions completely out of his control.
Viola, Orsino and Olivia in First Two Scenes of The Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare     Viola, Orsino and Olivia are involved in a love triangle by the end of    scene 5, as a result of the themes of love and time. Orsino is an apparently impatient man over the prospect of love; when    Valentine returns from Olivia's house, he questions him about the    meeting, "How now. What news from her?", are the first words he says    to him, asking for information about the situation with Olivia. His    pursuit of Olivia, which he turns around and claims that he is the    "hart, / And my desires, like fell and cruel hounds, / E'er since    pursue me", where he compares himself to the hunter Achaean who was    turned into a stag by Diana, and set upon by his own hounds when he    looked at her, which is against the world picture.

"No Work, No Food” 83 Hyakujo, the Chinese Zen master, used to labor with his pupils even at the age of eighty, trimming the gardens, cleaning the grounds, and pruning the trees. The pupils felt sorry to see the old teacher working so hard, but they knew he would not listen to their advice to stop, so they hid away his tools. That day the master did not eat. The next day he did not eat, nor the next. “He may be angry because we have hidden his tools,” the pupils surmised. “We had better put them back.
The Islamic Resistance Movement, also known as alHarakah alMuqawama alIslamiya (Hamas), has proven to be an extremely agile and capable terrorist organization in Palestine. They benefit from a deeprooted sociocultural infrastructure, highly lethal tactics and a complex hierarchy of leadership, all of which have allowed the organization to prosper for over two decades. As where 90% of terrorist groups wither and rapidly falter, Hamas has been able to quickly adapt to the constantly changing political and social environment of Palestine .

Lying vs. TruthTelling in Genesis, Othello, and The Lie   As children we are taught to always tell the truth in every situation. Catchy clichés such as "the truth will set you free" are used to reinforce honesty in our minds. However, is it possible that lying can further your success in life, more so than honesty. Literary evidence seems to support this. Even the Bible offers stories of lying and cheating without consequence. Three literary works–the book of Genesis, William Shakespeare’s Othello, and Sir Walter Ralegh’s poem The Lie–offer support that, perhaps, the truth is not always what it’s cracked up to be.
The article “Visual Gaze Behaviors: Consideration in working with visually impaired multiple handicapped children” by Mary Morse, published in 1991, first reviews the course of  normal visual development, providing a basis for her main concern and topic : visual behavior development among impaired children. Finally, Morse attempts to provide the reader with practical recommendations. Her intention is to enrich the readers with knowledge on working with impaired children. Though the article offers much useful and detailed information about normal visual behavior, the article is deficient in presenting abnormal visual development in multiple handicapped children.
Interracial Relationships in American Society           Interracial Relationships in America should not surprise anyone in today' s  society, but are they considered ethically Wright. In Webster's dictionary the meaning for ethics is "Having to do with a group of people who have the same language and culture and share a way of life  (Macmillan 1) . Prejudice and Discrimination are an all to common part of our cognitive social being, but many social psychologists believe that it can be stopped, but only with the help of social conditioning.

Generally, students don’t read outside of class. They are stressed because of homework and just go home to watch TV as a way to rid themselves of their worries. A reported fact from a survey of 136 freshman high school students is that, “41 percent of freshman students receive homework assignments every day of the week” (Wilson 3). A more conducive way to erase stress from the school day would be to sit down and read an enjoyable book. Most students of this modern age have no time to delve into a book and be lost in its pages for hours on end.
The Health Care Expense    With congress recently addressing health care, people are interested in the ramifications of this momentous disillusion. Leading proponents of this cause crusade for change without examining the consequences. This year the American public will discover the real cost of universal health care through quality, expense, responsibility, and the role of private insurance. Quality of Care    Quality is an issue most are reluctant to address. Currently H.R.3590 addresses the need for quality of care through reports and wellness programs.

There are two main phases to the running cycle: Support and Forward Recovery     Support Phase: This is the phase when the runner is touching the ground, and makes up about 30%40% of the running cycle. Footstrike: The foot touches the ground slightly ahead of the center of mass. When the foot contact occurs, several actions take place: the knee flexes, the tibia internally rotates, the ankle plantar flexes, and the subtalar joint pronates (Miliron & Cavanagh, 1990). It is necessary to have a certain amount of pronation to disseminate the energy of the footstrike.
The Yellow Wallpaper Although on the surface The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is a story about one woman’s struggles with sanity it is not. In truth, it is a story about the dominant/submissive relationship between an oppressive husband and his submissive wife. The husband, John, pushes his wife’s depression to a point quite close to insanity. The narrator seems to destroy herself through her overactive imagination and her urge to write. When they arrive she seems well in control of her faculties, but by the time they are readying for departure, she has broken down.
Necrotizing Fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria ) from an essay by Katrina Tram Duong, edited by S.N. Carson M.D. Necrotizing fasciitis, known commonly known as "flesh eating bacteria [infection]", occurs in a wide range of people 1. It occurs in the elderly, middle aged and younger patients. It occurs in athletes and debilitated individuals. It can occur in drug abusers with self inflicted wounds and healthy individuals with incidental injuries. It may occur in those with metabolic disorders such as diabetes and those with suppressed immune systems.

America's Reaction to the Holocaust          In the years of the Second World War, American leaders were aware of the plan of the Germans to exterminate all the Jews in Europe, yet they did not act to save them. The attitude in society and the state of the economy in the years leading up to the war made for conditions that did not make saving them likely.    Most Germans despised the Weimar Republic, which held control of Germany at the time they signed the Versailles Treaty. This treaty crippled Germany after they lost The First Great War.
Looking Backward        The book Looking Backward was written by Edward Bellamy and published in the year 1888. Bellamy started off his career as a journalist but then married and decided to devote his efforts to writing fiction novels. Looking Backward was published and Bellamy was famous. The book stirred around the country and had people imagining a world like the one Bellamy created in his book. The idea of a utopia as the one he describes is unbelievable. His book is what people, of even now in the twenty first century, wish the world could possible be like.
In 1984 Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Dole lobbied for all states to raise the legal drinking age from eighteen to twentyone. The consequence for a state not raising the age was to lose a portion of their federal highway funding. I personally believe that the drinking age being twentyone is just like when the voting age was twentyone, if I can go to war and die for my country, then I should be able to go to the bar and buy a beer. One of the biggest problems in our society is under age drinking.

Ancient Egypt conjures up thoughts of a great civilization, one very advanced for its time. The Ancient Egyptians invented all different forms of literature, including poetry and short stories, and they were extremely advanced as far as art, medicine, science, and religion went. One of the more mysterious aspects to Ancient Egyptian civilization was their use of hieroglyphics. Very few people to this day can understand the complex language. The origin of these hieroglyphics seems to also to be misunderstood by many people.
On April 16th 2007 at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, a student with psychological problems began a two hour killing spree that left 33 dead (Reader). The massacre that occurred at this school is now the worst recorded incident in the history of the United States and eclipses the University of Texas massacre of 1966. In the wake of tragedies like these, students, teachers and administrators propose more measures to make us feel safe on campus. But why weren't these measures in place before. School administrators and police have a responsibility to protect their students and faculty on campus, and these instances clearly shown a lack of fulfilling that responsibility.
The story’s opening lines announce the funeral of Miss Emily, to be held in her home—not in a church—and the reasons for the entire town’s attendingthe men out of respect for a Southern lady, the women to snoop inside her house. Her death symbolizes the passing of a genteel way of life, which is replaced by a new generation’s crass way of doing things. The narrator’s description of the Grierson house reinforces the disparity between the past and the present: Once a place of splendor, now modern encroachments—gas pumps and cotton wagons—obliterate most of the neighborhood and leave untouched only Miss Emily’s house, with its “stubborn and coquettish decay.”  This clash between the past and the present is evidenced by the different approaches that each generation takes concerning Miss Emily’s taxes.

The Perfect Gesture. The perfect form football tackle, that is the perfect gesture. The person that made this gesture was Gary Kmiec. I witnessed this event for the first time, Labor Day, at the junior varsity football game against North Park College. The day was hot and humid, like a regular Chicago summer. The North Park Viking's field was hardly appealing to the eye. The field was one of those contraptions of a baseball/football field combination. It was the third quarter of a very intense game, the score was 86 we were winning.
Equality, as we know it today, has been formed and molded into an idea that is still changing. Government officials, laws, and most influentially, people of the United States, have aided in the prevention of oppression towards women of all races and classes. The efforts of these individuals are counteracted with instances throughout history to prove that these men and women are not treated as if there were an equal condition. There are many instances of discrimination still present today, and one place it is most relevant is in the workplace.
Introduction Any disparity in power makes physical and sexual maltreatment more probable. This is mainly true in the extensive prevalence of rape during the time of the Second World War.    Sexual maltreatment, in the form of rape, inflicted on the Filipino comfort women during the war are considered as an offense of crime against humanity. However, it remained unreported and unrecognized years after the war. Rape is identified as criminal sexual intercourse without the consent of the victim. Even so, given all the consequences of rape for victims, this definition is rather limited .

Keats' Attitude Toward Art Revealed in His Poetry     In order to be able to comprehend John Keats attitude toward art it is    highly important to be aware of what he considers art to be. If it’s    true art, it is certainly very beautiful and not heading toward    becoming any worse in the future since “a thing of beauty is a joy for    ever” ( Endymion: A poetic Romance). Art is simply frozen in time. However, a piece of art can not be taken as wonderful unless it has    been adored by numerous people over a very long period of time.
Literary Analysis of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks    This book is a great book and it touches ones heart in ways you couldn't imagine. I seriously love this book because I love romantic stories and it's just so cute. The movie is good but the book is better. Well 'The Notebook' is about a journey of two young lovers Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson who made a passionate summer romance and they were separated because Allie moved to the city. After fourteen years of separation due to World War 2 and class differences.
Women's Outlook on War in Britain      In August 1914, Lord Kitchener, Secretary of State for War, saw that    the conflict would be long and hard fought, and proposed a    revolutionary plan for new armies of millions of volunteers, as    Britainpreviously only relied on a small professional force. His own    grim face, over the slogan "Your Kind and Country Need You', appeared    in the first poster appeal for recruits. Until conscription was    introduced in 1916, young men were subjected to relentless social    pressures, both official and unofficial, to join the army.

Renowned Villanelle     “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night” by Dylan Thomas is a magnificent poem that expresses great power, beauty, and gentleness, in which tone and emotion are exquisitely blended. His poem illustrates various ways to approach death. In expressing this, Thomas believes that one should not be so accepting and giving to death, but advocates living up until the last breathe. Thomas’s message is a plea to his ill, dying father, pleading him not to give in, but to fight death. Thomas further suggests that a great man must not die quietly, but to live fully and experience life to his utmost ability and capability.
“Be not afraid,” were Pope John Paul’s first words as the official Bishop of Rome, although they were very simple, they were more powerful than any natural disaster in the world. They were just the right words that were needed to change the lives of many people throughout the world. Being a Catholic Citizen in today’s free society, we have many responsibilities. Some being: to make known to the world of how precious God’s gift of life to us really is, to spread the faith, and to donate not only money but also there time to those in need.
Epistemology     Epistemology, the theory of knowledge, is one of several categories related to the broader heading, Philosophy. Plato was one of many Philosophers to practice the ideas related to Epistemology, as evident in his "Republic". In this paper I will outline some of Plato's views that he introduces in the "Republic" and I will give my opinion on these views. Plato may be the most recognized philosopher and his ideas are widely known.    In the "Republic," Plato defines the ideal government as one that is set up and run by a philosopher king.

The Role of Institutions in the Economic Development of Mexico    Introduction   The purpose of this paper is to focus upon the institutional development of the country of Mexico. The paper begins with an overview of the establishment of Mexico as a country and move into the various forms of government institutions that were put into place to govern the nation. The following section is a look at the nation’s attempt to establish a democratic form of government and how the state emerged as the center of authority.
Culture and Communication     Introduction   In The Silent Language, Edward Hall’s (1959) seminal examination of nonverbal communication, it is ambiguous asserted that  “culture is communication and communication is culture,” (217). Though this statement is obviously lacks for broad explanatory power, Hall nevertheless aptly articulates the crucial roles that culture plays in communication research. From its role in theories of communication to its treatment as a both the independent and the dependent variable in experimental studies, culture shapes the nature of what communication researchers, and speaks to the very heart of what communication is.
The Fête  “Do you want some ice cream?”  Jake looked at Quill with amazement. They’d already had fried chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and strawberry shortcake. The feast had been to help the local Moose Lodge. “Who’s providing the ice cream?” Jake said with a sigh. Quill had insisted it was important to patronize every local organization. He’d even been bugging Jake to get his face painted since the money went for the summer flowers that cheerfully spilled out of planters all along the streets, including in front of Galaxy Toys.

The Enron Scandal      In a frontpage article with no less than four bylines (7/03, "Enron Triggers a Slew of Proposed Fixes But What Will Stick?" by Steve Liesman et al.), The Wall Street Journal reports, "As more than 10 congressional committees pursue inquiries, 32 Enronrelated bills have been introduced to address ills ranging from auditor conflicts of interest to the scams of an unregulated derivatives market. The Securities and Exchange Commission pledges to reform accounting rules, get tough on fraud and overhaul auditor oversight.
Death and Humor in Huckleberry Finn            Huckleberry Finn can be read as a boy's adventure novel, as a work of serious literature, as a humorous historical account, as biting social satire . . . I'm sure I could go on.  This is a book that has delighted generations of readers  it's rollingly funny, rife with adventure  and hopelessly morbid.  That's right.  I read Huckleberry Finn and it made me think of death.  The novel has a strange way of dealing with death.  There's a pretty high body count, yet each individual demise becomes an opportunity for high comedy.  We laugh, and the novel will laugh with us.  But it won't cry.  Perhaps this was a nod to time and place.  As far as the poetry of the time suggests, life in America in the late nineteenth century was not exactly cheerful.   Take this poem, published less than a year before Huckleberry Finn, as just one example:       When I am gone     Say!  Will the glad wind wander, wander on;                                   Stooping with tenderest touches, yet                   With frolic care beset,   Lifting the long gray rushes, where the Stream                   And I so idly dream?              I feel its soft caress;   The toying of its wildwood tenderness                   On brow and lips and eyes and hair,                                   As if through love aware                   That days must come when no fond wind shall creep                                   Down where my heart's asleep.
No other artist has ever made as extended or complex career of presenting herself to the camera as has Cindy Sherman. Yet, while all of her photographs are taken of Cindy Sherman, it is impossible to class call her works selfportraits. She has transformed and staged herself into as unnamed actresses in undefined B movies, makebelieve television characters, pretend porn stars, undifferentiated young women in ambivalent emotional states, fashion mannequins, monsters form fairly tales and those which she has created, bodies with deformities, and numbers of grotesqueries.

The Black Civil Rights Movement                                                                            The Black civil rights movement emerged as a mass movement in the    1950s but its long term origins go back much to the abolition of    slavery and the failure of States to implement the 14th and 15th    amendments which guaranteed exslave rights as defined in the    constitution. Just after the end of slavery the reconstruction era    began, it allowed blacks many opportunities that had never been open    to them before, during this time there was a change in many areas of    culture in America.
The study conducted by Samuel O. Salami and A. Oyesoji Aremu(2007) was on the level of parental attachment and the career development process of the secondary school adolescents. Participants for this study were 242 (males ¼ 121, female ¼ 121) senior secondary school II students randomly selected from five coeducational secondary schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. To reduce the potentially confounding effects of family structure, we included only students from twoparent families. The mean age of the sample was 16.50 years with a standard deviation of 2.47.
The Ethics of Cloning    Regardless of what our future holds, it will be based on the decisions we make today.  Those decisions can be made using the Utilitarian Theory which states that we are doing good for the greatest number of people.  Using Rule Utilitarianism "which maintains that a behavioral code or rule is morally right if the consequences of adopting that rule are more favorable than unfavorable to everyone. (IEP)" is justifably noted that if a consensus is formed on the basis of rules that govern cloning, and these rules are broken, the appropriate punishment will result.  This is because cloning a human will not benefit the society as a whole, it would do more harm than good.  We all have rules that govern our society over what is right or wrong and we know that these rules are set forth to maintain order.  We have laws because it benefits the majority of the people.

Is Shylock Victim Or Villain in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice      William Shakespeare wrote the Merchant of Venice in the Elizabethan    period. The play is about Shylock, a Jewish money lender¡: trying to    make a living and survive in a community that despises him and    marginalia's him. Before the plot even starts, Shylock is condemned    for being a Jew, and a moneylender. Jews were forbidden to be    successful businessmen in Venice, so the only occupation open to him    was money lending which they exploited to the full, this gave    Shakespeare an opportunity to capture sympathy and understanding from    the reader towards Shylock.

Macbeth as a Tragic Hero in William Shakespeare's Play      Macbeth is a Shakespearian play involving an ambitious brave warrior,    (Macbeth) who is cousin to the King of Scotland. The play focuses on    Macbeths ambitions. Macbeth meets three weird sisters, who predict    that one day he would be king. But Macbeth's ambition over took his    life as he ended up doing anything to become king, even kill the ones    closest to him. There is a great battle at the end of the play in    which Macbeth is killed, proving that Macbeth would even be prepared    to die to make his ambitions come true.
One of the most productive and prosperous nations of the world is the United States of America. From an economical stand point, there has been an incredible amount of success for this country and an expected many more to come. However, there have also been economical stresses such as wars, recessions, and depressions. The Great Depression was perhaps the most tragic of these. William Carlos Williams connects his experience of the Great Depression through his short story “The Use of Force”. William Carlos Williams during his lifetime (18831963) prospered not only in the medical field as a doctor for over 40 years, but also became a well known author and poet.
The game was a reenactment of the American Revolution, which was certainly an important milestone in the history of mankind because it was a reflection of the powerful ideas that were formulated by Enlightenment thinkers such as John Locke. One of the most important lessons that I learned from this game was the influence of power in decisionmaking process and the two forms of power, implicit and explicit. The influence of power is still apparent in places such as Egypt, which has shown the negative effects of localization of power to a single ruler.

Discovery of the Structure of DNA   On the last day of February in 1953, according to James Watson, Francis Crick announced to the patrons of the Eagle Pub in Cambridge, “We have discovered the secret of life” (Watson 115, 1980). As Brian Hayes, the author of “The Invention of the Genetic Code” states, “If life ever had a secret, the double helix of DNA was surely it” (1). However, it was not the work of these two men alone that led to the discovery of the power the lies within the double helix, but rather the work of many scientists that was carefully picked apart and pieced together by the two who received the most fame for the work.
Holden Caulfield, the main character in The Catcher in the Rye, suffers from a Madonna/whore complex, meaning he can only see women in two ways; as perfect and innocent or as dirty whores, without any ground in between. According to psychiatrists, this disorder may be caused by an excessive bond between one’s mother as a child, or conversely a lack of a bond, resulting in looking towards the one you love as a motherly figure, while nobody else can meet those standards. (Speyer) Holden’s experiences in this novel reveal to us this problem, as he cannot seem to deal with women at all.
World War two has to be the most famous war of all time. It was the largest, most tragic, horrifying of them all, and the first to have millions of people killed in the duration of it. Is it just me, or does it seem rather ironic that the very thing that was meant to solve the first World War is the most important of all of the causes of the second. And that the people who were supposed to fix the problems that that war caused were only really helping another along. The "war to end all wars" did not do that at all.

Importance of the Parallel Plot in King Lear             Literature can be expressed using many different techniques and  styles of writing, some very effective and others not as much. One of the  methods chosen by many is the use of so called "parallel" plots. "Parallel" plots, or sometimes referred to as minor, give the opportunity  of experiencing a secondary storyline going along with the main plot that  otherwise would be unmentioned. William Shakespeare shows excellent use of  a parallel plot in his play "King Lear", but some question it's  essentiality by asking: Is it really necessary.
One day, my parents talked to my brothers and me about moving to United States. The idea upset me, and I started to think about my life in Mexico. Everything I knew—my friends, family, and school for the past twenty years—was going to change. My father left first to find a decent job, an apartment. It was a great idea because when we arrived to the United States, we didn’t have problems.    We moved for different reasons, one was a better education. In the United States the schools offer a lot of opportunities, such us different degrees, financial aid, scholarships, and more.
Blood Brothers Evaluation     We went to see the play, 'Blood Brothers' at the local Theatre. I expected the play to be very emotional and sad, from the     reviews that my friends had given me. The plot of the story is that there are two twins and they are    separated at birth. As the mother has 7 other children to look after    and is the only person in the house who earns money, she cannot afford    to keep them both. After much persuasion she gives one away to her    employer, Mrs Lyons, a woman who is rich but unable to have any    children of her own.

(i) Environmental Analysis – External Opportunities and Threats The demographic, economic and the sociocultural segments would be the most relevant segments to Whole Foods Market. These segments have a direct impact on the profitability, sustainability and survivability of Whole Foods Market, and the organic food industry. The relevance of the demographic segment stems from the fact that the age structure, income distribution and population size are important factors which will influence the demand for organic products.

This punishment has been used and is still used today. In the    countries it is used in now it is accepted by their people. As an adult, people that I encounter in my everyday life often wonder how I got to be the person that I am today – an understanding, openminded individual who does not look down upon anyone that is less fortunate than I am and who does not look to “more” fortunate individuals as role models. When I am asked how I got to be so understanding, I answer giving credit to my parents’ value system they instilled in me as well as acknowledging their duties as public servants in the City of New York. My father was a police officer who worked in a number of precincts in some of the worst, crime ridden areas of Brooklyn and my mother worked for the Department of Social Services in Child Welfare and the Bureau of Public Assistance, initially as a caseworker, in Brooklyn as well.

Henry David Thoreau's Integrity   Although his actions were admirable and act as evidence to integrity, the writings of Henry David Thoreau and Emerson reveal a haughty and pretentious individual. Thoreau's courage was noble. He was quick to immerse himself in his beliefs  and abandon any obligation to social norms despite the risk in damaging his  reputation. His rejection of societal limitations and steadfast individualism was truly commendable, however, his mannerisms were extremely rude. He cast aside all tact and consideration of others because he was so consumed with himself.
TiVo is the hottest in the United States today. Millions of people from all over the states buy something that finally is for once convenient for them. Many people in their households have at least some type cable server instead of basic television. The mission statement for TiVo should be providing viewers the control of what they watch and when they want to watch it. Putting viewers in control of their televisionviewing experience in ways they never had before. The marketing objective for TiVo is to have sales hit a reach of 14 million homes by the year 2005.
Great Expectations: A thematic analysis  As the reader begins the book, Dickens instills in the reader a bond with Pip as it is through his eyes in a first person narrative. Dickens’ use of Pip as the narrator is very significant to the telling of the story. We are able to see the progression of Pip as he grows up and his views on the characters in the book. We form an idea about someone from their outward appearance, so having Pip as a narrator it creates a onesided view about a character because we only see the world from Pip’s eyes and we feel most strongly what Pip is feeling and we feel, about other character what Pip feels about them.

Ildar Tempting Fate The “Monkey’s Paw” reveals an intriguing story of destiny and death. The Theme challenges the classical ideas of destiny and fate. From the beginning of the story Mr. White denies the seriousness of the paw. When he says, “Well, why don’t you have three sir”, he is in a way mocking Morris and the criticalness of the paw. The effects of disturbing fate do not even occur to him at this point and his intrigue and human greed override his judgment. “If you don’t want it, Morris, give it to me”, Mr.

Robert Boyle (16271691)       Robert Boyle is the most influential AngloIrish scientist in history.  He played a key role in the history of science by establishing the experimental method, on which all modern science is based (Mollan).  Also, with his assistant Robert Hooke, he began pioneering experiments on the properties of gases, including those expressed in Boyle's law.  He demonstrated the physical characteristics of air, showing that is is necessary in combustion, respiration, and sound transmission.  He also wrote The Sceptical Chymist in 1661, in which he attacked Aristotle's theory of four elements.  This was an essential part of the modern theory of chemical elements.

('On the Blue Water' in Esquire, April 1936)        A legendary novelist, shortstory writer and essayist Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899, in the village of Oak Park, Illinois, close to the prairies and woods west of Chicago.

The Main Conventions of James Bond Movies     The character of James Bond is seen to the audience as a hero. Everyone wants to be James Bond because of his charming goodlooks and    the gorgeous, seductive and underdressed women that he gets to sleep    with. Bond is smart, intelligent and unbelievably cool. James Bond is    a very sophisticated, good looking and strong character. The name    James Bond says he is obviously an English family man. Bond is usually    aged between 35 and 40 but is still as athletic as a teenager.
Western world has its History beginning from the time of the Old Roman Empire. They created the basis for the upcoming world, called nowadays Western. The influence that the Roman Empire gave to the NonWestern world was continued to be by the Western world. The immense and productive cultural heritage from the old Romans has been observed and learned by the NonWestern world under Rome's direct influence or by their own will. Prolonging the old traditions the Western world has been always devoting time to teach and help the rest of the world.
Dance is an art, a creative portal, a form of expression; it is a sport. Atop all of the things that dance can be, it is also something physical. It takes work, power and effort. It takes stamina, grace and an extreme amount of muscle and flexibility. What do athletes need to have, all of those characteristics. When it comes to athletes, of any kind, dance can help with honing their skills. Something that most athletes do not seem to understand is that dance is just as much a physical and athletic sport as their sport is.

Who is the bad lady in Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet. Who else but Gertrude. Is there a consensus in this evaluation. Let’s delve into the life and circumstances of this character.     Gunnar Bokland in “Hamlet” describes Gertrude’s moral descent during the course of Shakespeare’s Hamlet:       With Queen Gertrude and finally also Laertes deeply involved in a situation of increasing ugliness, it becomes clear that, although Claudius and those who associate with him are not the incarnations of evil that Hamlet sees in them, they are corrupt enough from any balanced point of view, a condition that is also intimated by the “heavyheaded revel” that distinguishes life at the Danish court.
Joseph Patrick Kennedy was born on September 6, 1888, in Boston Massachusetts. He was born the son of Patrick Joseph Kennedy, a local politician and successful businessman, and his wife Mary Augusta Hickey Kennedy. His parents wanted only the best for young Joe. In 1901 Joe was enrolled in Boston Latin, and elite boys catholic school. He was a very popular student there as president of his class, colonel on the drill team, a baseball player, and valedictorian. The next step for Joe was Harvard.
Plato's Republic – Should We Search for the Truth. There is the common belief that what we experience as reality is just a mere illusion of the truth. Plato's allegory of the cave in "The Republic" describes human beings as being chained in a cave, such that they cannot move but are forced to face a wall, onto which shadows of puppets and themselves are projected. They are deceived into believing that their reality is composed of these "shadows" when actually, the world of truth is the "light" outside the cave.

The Role of Media in the War Effort on the Home Front     Introduction: During the war, media was everywhere, on lampposts, in    shops, anywhere a person went they would see propaganda all around    them. The media got into people's lives; it influenced them and    cheered them up. It also told people about recent events, it kept them    informed. Media took many forms in the war; there was radio, cinema, newspapers    and posters. Television had no part in the war since the BBC went    offline at the beginning of the war.
The Study of Myopia and Photorefractive Keratectomy   Myopia is defined as nearsightedness, which exists when the refractive elements of the eye (cornea and lens) place the image in front of the retina. The myopic condition is common in infants but generally levels off to normal vision as the infant ages (Vander & Gault, 1998). Myopia occurs in about 25% of the adult U.S. population. Many adults use corrective lenses or contacts to correct their myopic vision to 20/20 vision (Drexler et al., 1998).
The Future of Genetics          The HGP began in 1990, it is a 13year effort coordinated and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health. The Human Genome Project’s goals are to identify all the 100,000 genes in human DNA; determine the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA; store this information in databases; develop tools for data analysis; transfer related technologies to the private sector; and address the ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) that may arise from the project.

The Theme Of Love In The Poems Cousin Kate And Maude Clare     Love in most cases is supposedly something wonderful and amazing. This    is not the case in the poems Cousin Kate and Maude Clare. Christina    Rosseti presents love as being sordid and dirty. Also as a weakness    like an affliction. However traditional Victorian ideas are not    supposed to be like this they are about white weddings and true    romance by writing these poems Christina Rosseti has challenged the    original Victorian ideas.
Imperialism has existed in the world since the beginning of government all together, but this practice took a dramatic turn in the latter half of the nineteenth century. New inventions, modern thinking, and stronger governments all made imperialism easier. Now thousands of miles could be conquered in a matter of months; an empire could have a stronger hold on a colony than ever before. The result was that by the end of the century, at least one European nation had a claim to nearly every piece of land on the Earth.
Critique of the Movie Matchstick Men  I recently read a review of Matchstick Men by Nicolas Bardot who said of the movie: “very touching but lacking a certain panache.” The Matchstick Men starring Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell, and Alison Lohman, is the story of Roy (Cage) who with his “numerous disorders” and his partner Frank (Rockwell) tries to pull off a con job. Unfortunately, Roy’s daughter Angela (Lohman) suddenly shows up and things don’t go exactly as planned. Although Roy’s “disorders” are not mentioned specifically, I can’t imagine they would make his job easy in the first place, but throw a long lost teenage daughter into the mix and I can not wait to see what happens next.

The Study of History       My interest in the study of history dates back to my early days at Queen Elizabeth II High School, Isle of Man. I was fascinated by the study of the Roman Empire that I undertook during my first year. Fuelled by enthusiastic teaching my interest developed, and I became particularly interested in my GCSE history course that was concerned with the Cold War period. My interest in modern political history has continued into the sixth form, and, in particular, the breakdown of communism in the USSR and Eastern Europe, and area that I intend to explore in my Extended Essay.
Husain Haddawy’s The Arabian Nights and Zora Neale Hurston’s Mules and Men  Revealing the Conflicts, Desires and Dreams of the Collector  "For the translator, who stands astride two cultures, possesses two different sensibilities, and assumes a double identity" —Husain Haddawy      Magic, love, sex, war, gods, spells. These are all common ingredients in the folktales of almost every culture. Many people say that folktales are windows to cultures. That might be so. Often readers do not realize, though, that folktales also reflect aspects of the collectors.
A Study of United Nations      An organization created to unify the world, to protect us from each    other in the ultimate goal of creating world prosperity and unity    between one another in the hope of stopping another world war of    occurring. This organization is called “The UN’s.”     The idea of a first peace organization was come with up towards the    end world war one (19141918). This organization was called “The    League of Nations,” and was initiated after World War one. This    organization had many flaws and could not stop the Germany once again    from trying to take over Europe.

Cindy Sherman        Terror and mockery come together in the portraits of Cindy Sherman on display at the Crocker Art Museum. Walking into the large, dimly lit ballroom, one may begin to feel a slight sense of trepidation as the viewer looks around to find nine sets of beady eyes watching one’s every move. Sherman produced her History Portraits during the late eighties and early nineties, nine of which are displayed at the museum. In her portraits she uses lush fabrics, lavish jewelry, and false body parts to decorate herself in these selfportraits.
Imagine a painting of your life, what colors would be there. How would you show the different times in your life. Would you shade the areas where you had a hard time or use lines to show that. Being a artist that never truly finishes their work would be hard. When you are young, your enthused about painting. As you start to get older, all you want to do is visit with friends, so you miss that part of your life. Then you get back on track and work like crazy to make up wasted time. But you think to yourself “Will I ever finish my masterpiece or will it end when I do?”    You start out with a blank canvas, nothing on it, but ready to absorb new information.
This book Into The Wild is about how a young man wants to get away from the world. He does escape from society, but ends up dying in the process. The author, Jon Krakauer, does a great job of describing Chris McCandless and his faults. Chris is an intelligent college graduate. He went on a twoyear road trip and ended up in Alaska. He didn't have any contact with his parents in all of that time. Krakauer does a great job of interviewing everyone who had anything to do with McCandless from his parents, when he grew up, to the people who found his body in Alaska.

January 20,1969  Richard M. Nixon elected the thirtyseventh president of the United States  1969  Ehrlichman suggests to Caulfield that he leave the White House and set up a private security business that would provide security to the 1972 Nixon campaign. This project, Sandwedge, would be similar to the Kennedy security firm, Intertel. Suspense and Tension at the End of Act 2 of Priestley's An Inspector Calls      An Inspector Calls, by J.B. Priestly, is the story of the visit by an    Inspector to an apparently normal, rich family, the Birlings. They are    celebrating Sheila Birling's (Mr. & Mrs. Birlings daughter) engagement    to Gerald Croft (A young man who’s father owns a large factory and is    very well off), who is also present, when the Inspector arrives    telling them of the suicide of a young girl called Eva Smith.
A student’s stomach growls, and what is to come for lunch is immediately thought of. Will it be the overcooked, dried out pizza pockets, or the cracked, gooey bean burritos. When the student thinks about their empty stomach, filling it with precooked food simply warmed up is anything but satisfying. So, what can be done to fill the empty stomach. The unthinkable: eating a school lunch. Simply entering the school cafeteria is daring enough, but now having to eat the food. How outrageous this seems.

The Theme of Death in Poetry  Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson are two Modern American Poets who consistently wrote about the theme of death. While there are some comparisons between the two poets, when it comes to death as a theme, their writing styles were quite different. Robert Frost’s poem, “Home Burial,” and Emily Dickinson’s poems, “I felt a Funeral in my Brain,” and “I died for Beauty,” are three poems concerning death. While the theme is constant there are differences as well as similarities between the poets and their poems.
The Effect of Apartheid on The Lives of Africans         In this thesis I will be explain the ways in which the lives of the    black distorted. There lives were very good after the Second World    War, they had everything going well for them, but it didn't last long. The foreword of Apartheid in the 1950's 1960's and 1970's destroyed    this optimism. Their lives got worse and worse and they had lost    charge of their lives. I will be explaining how their personal lives    changed, how their movement was restricted, how their most valuable    rights were taken away, how they had to live poorly and how they had    lost their education as well and last of all I will be telling you    which I think was the main reason for them to feel isolated.
Veganism can dramatically alter ones life forever, often producing deep emotional changes. Although choosing veganism is a source of great joy, it can also create friction among family and friends. Cultural pressures, the demand for conformity, and the personal desire for acceptance can challenge a vegans confidence and selfesteem. Because vegans so acutely see and feel the suffering of the world, and are at odds with many widely accepted social customs, some will invariably experience occasional bouts of the blues.

The Mississippi Burning Trial” was not for the coldblooded murders of three young civil rights workers, but rather for the violation of their civil rights. The federal government wanted to break Mississippi’s “white supremacy” stronghold on the South. “The Mississippi Burning Trial” proved to be the opportunity to do so. The three branches of the federal government and their various departments were actively involved in bringing about this civil rights trial in Mississippi and these activities and personal views are well documented in court records, department records, and the press.
Commentary on Hope     Aimed at the older teenagers with sophisticated lexis, 'Hope' has been    opened by presenting literary devices such as personification,    phonological features and repetition, thus setting the scene whilst    subtly stressing the conveyed mood and theme. The usage of the present tense rather than the past removes the linear    dictation by time and restricts knowledge to situation rather than    chronology. By applying a present tense to this text, I have removed    the idea that the darkness has limits as it seems to be immovable, and    because of this, the reader has to accept it's presence and learn how    to benefit from the lighter area's.
Abstract           Cadmium (Cd) is known to be toxic to plants and animals and can be transported to both ground and surface water through specific physical mechanisms. The chemical dynamics of Cd and other similar (heavy) metals in the soil environment is controlled by its interactions with both solid and aqueous phases of soil. The concentration of Cd and other metals in soil solution is highly influenced and regulated by processes such as adsorptiondesorption, ion exchange, precipitationdissolution, and soil and solution phase composition.

The struggle for equal rights has been an ongoing issue in the United States. For most of the twentieth century Americans worked toward equality. Through demonstrations, protests, riots, and parades citizens have made demands and voiced their concerns for equal rights. For the first time minority groups were banding together to achieve the American dream of liberty and justice for all. Whether it was equality for women, politics, minorities, or the economy the battle was usually well worth the outcome.
Poverty in Islam     I personally think that there should be rich people in the world as    well as poor people. This enables the rich to support the poor through    Sadaqah and Zakah. Through a Muslim point of view, there can be rich    people, but they must help the poor because the Prophet said:     'None of you believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes    for himself.'     From the times gone by of the Muslims we know that there can be    wealthy people, even if there is poverty in the world.
Critical Analysis of Walter Mosley       “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do or say may be used against you in a court of law.” Although no one wants to hear these words, they are words that are known across the country and are uttered every day. Walter Mosley takes this concept of “by the book” law enforcement and jazzes it up in The Devil in a Blue Dress, a novel based on Ezekiel Rawlins, a character stuck between the struggle of enforcing the law or engaging into criminal activity.

People are strange creatures, we are born with our own free will; however, it is not something that we realize we have until we are a little older. Once children get to the age where they begin to discover their own free will, that is when they start to make choices on how to act, granted the adults or authority figures in their lives influence the choices that they make but they are not completely responsible for the choices made by children. Adults on the other hand are responsible for the choices that they make.

The Effects of Smoking   Introduction       Smoking cigarettes damage the body in a number of different ways. Over several years, the American Council on Science and Health and many others have documented the effects of smoking. Everyone knows that it is bad for you, but not many know how it affects the body. There are many myths about smoking, which mainly occur with all of the teens that are smoking. Most teens don’t know that the effects of smoking are mostly permanent. They think that they can smoke for a few years and then quit without suffering any longterm effects.

As one of the most famous tragedies written by William Shakespeare around 1600, Hamlet, the prince of Denmark seeks revenge on his uncle, who murdered the King and married Hamlet’s mother, the Queen. Hamlet is considered to be well versed in both polite letters and martial arts. I believe Hamlet is a tragic hero because his irresolution becomes his fatal flaw and it eventually brings him to his downfall.    The first appearance of Hamlet is in Act I Scene 2, he is mourning his father’s, the King’s death."But two months dead …my poor father’s body…why she married with my uncle, My father’s brother, but no more like my father…Ere yet the salt of most unrighteous tears…But break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue" Hamlet can not accept what presents in front of him.
The Life of William Shakespeare  England's most talented and well know poet and dramatist was born on April 23, 1564, at StratforduponAvon, located in the cetre of England. His father, John, was a glovemaker and wool dealer involved with money lending. His mother Mary Arden was the daughter of a Farmer. William was the third out of eight children whom all died young. His father became Mayor in 1568, after serving on the town council for many years. William went to a junior school before going to the Grammar School when he was 7.
Commentary on poem After The Flood  The poem “After The Flood” has a slow and steady tempo. The poet created it by not mentioning too many events at once, but slowly, and gives time for the observer to recall – “I remembered” and gives his own opinion on the events – “It had not been a bad rise…” These give the readers a better understanding and a clearer picture on what is happening. As we read through the poem, we have an image of the observer, standing at the ruins of the park, observing carefully what is going on around and describing them in words what he sees and comparing them with the past condition – which was before the flood.

After thinking about all the things we would learn this year in American  history I decided to do my project on the experiences of Vietnam War  veterans. There is a lot of controversy as to whether or not the Vietnam  War veterans are given enough recognition for what they went through. I have  heard horrible stories of US soldiers dying from US bombs, shell shock, and  soldiers returning to America and not being able to function as active  members of society due to the horrors of the war. All I really know about  the war is what I have seen on television.
Getting the Measure of Crime                       What practical problems does the criminologist face in going about his    business. What does an informed examination of hidden crime tell us about (1)    official criminal statistics and (2) The nature of social order. Are there such things as victimless crimes. Why. In my essay I will first talk about crime and what it means, I will    then talk about what different methods criminologists use to collect    crime such as crime surveys and self report studies and there positive    and negative sides.

The Major Public Health Concern of Tobacco     Now, more than ever, more and more people are beginning to look at tobacco use as a major public health concern. It is nineteen ninety nine, and the number of smokers is rising while the average age of smoking initiation decreases. There are those that believe using tobacco of any type should be illegal, or at least restricted. Others believe it is up to the person to choose whether to use tobacco products or not, however most of these people believe tobacco companies should warn their customers of their products harmful affects.
Solar Energy is not a Solution to America’s Energy Crisis  With the growing cost of fuel for cars and the rolling blackouts of last summer, the need for an alternative, costeffective, environment friendly energy source is escalating. Many possible solutions have been presented, such as nuclear power, wind power, and hydrogen fuel cells; prevalent among these is solar power. Solar cells directly convert photons from the sun into electricity (Wikipedia). Solar cells that convert both solar and nonsolar light are called photovoltaic cells (Wikipedia 2006).
Of Ants and Terrorists       After several hours and extensive questioning of family and friends, I decided to write this analogy assignment on the vast similarities of ants and terrorists. I had several topics to choose from; however, I wanted to write about something that relates to our present times. There are dozens if not hundreds of similarities between these two. For example they both live in organized societies, they range in sizes from a very few to several thousands. You could also find both of these groups all over the world.
